Slow Cooked Sweet Onion Braised Beef - tender pieces of beef in a delicious sweet onion gravy.
The sweet onions, the tender pieces of beef and that gravy - oh my, how I love that gravy. So much so that I could just eat a bowl of the gravy with a spoon.
Best of all it is totally effortless. Just a few ingredients in the slow cooker and you are done. Come Dinner time all that's left to do is make the sides and then you can dig in an enjoy, while muttering all kinds of words of enjoyment.
I love to serve with my Syn Free Sweet Potato Mash and Syn Free Sauteed Shredded Garlic Brussels Sprouts .
Now let's just mention for a minute. Until a few years ago, I hated brussels sprouts, bleurgh, horrible overcooked bitterness in your mouth. The only way I was ever served them as a child was overcooked and boiled in water, it isn't a surprise I hated them.
I then happened to buy a salad bag a few years ago, which had kale, broccoli stalks and shredded Brussels sprouts and amazingly I loved them raw.
I just had to give them another go cooked. This time sauteeing it up in a pan with some garlic and black pepper. It is literally the best green ever and could easily eat a bowl of them on their own.
My whole family love this Slow Cooked Sweet Onion-Braised Beef and I often hope I can sneak some aside as leftovers for the next day or to put in the freezer, it never happens though, it's all gone, the more I make, the more that gets eaten.
As well as my crockpot, I have also made this dish in the Instant Pot. Oh, how I love my Instant Pot.
If you haven't heard of an Instant Pot you are seriously missing out. It is the best kitchen gadget I have purchased. I would even put it above my actifry and that's saying something. Since buying it I use it pretty much every day. Boiled eggs are a breeze and peel effortlessly.
It is basically a 7in1 cooker, and it slow cooks, pressure cooks, saute's, has settings for soup, chilli, rice, porridge and even makes yoghurt (I haven't tried that yet).
